South China's Guangdong Province is on high alert against the worst dengue fever outbreak in 2 decades.

Some 1,400 new cases have been reported in the past two days alone.

Nearly 7,500 people in total have been infected so far this year.

The provincial¹ capital is the hardest hit area, with two deaths reported there.

Health authourities are warning people to pay attention if they show flu-like symptoms such as high fever, nausea² and headaches, lest they miss their best treatment opportunity.

Chinese Vice³ Premier⁴ Wang Yang has met with a delegation⁵ of Japanese business leaders to discuss ways of increasing bilateral⁶ cooperation, amid chilly⁷ ties between Asia's two biggest economies.

The delegation of the Japan-China Association on Economy and Trade consists of over 200 business people from 89 Japanese companies.

In another development, China and Japan have restarted high-level consultations⁸ on maritime⁹ affairs.

The Chinese foreign ministry¹⁰ says a two-day meeting has been held in east China's Qingdao city.

The meeting involves officials from the two countries' defense¹¹ ministries¹² and maritime affairs departments.
