Superstar Beyonce was a surprise presenter¹ at the The 2017 Sportsperson of the Year Awards took place Tuesday night.

She turned up to give the Muhammad Ali Legacy² Award to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The singer said that she felt "so good to be here on such a special night of appreciation³" and thanked Kaepernick for his "selfless heart," "conviction" and "personal sacrifice."
