Three Japanese tourists have been found safe and well in the Northern Territory after their car was swept away by floodwaters. The vehicle became trapped in the flooded Hugh Creek¹ near Alice Springs. The occupants, a woman and two men, have only minor² injuries. NT police are also looking for a West Australian family of six which was due to arrive in Kintore on Christmas Day.

Authorities in New South Wales have today found the body of a man who went missing while swimming in southern Sydney. The 25-year-old disappeared in the Nepean river near Greendale yesterday. The man's death brings the number of drownings in New South Wales over the holiday period to five.
