The Immigration Minister Peter Dutton says a number of asylum¹ seekers on Manus Island have been arrested by Papua New Guinea police. The detention² centre has closed, but more than 350 men have spent weeks in makeshift accommodation there, saying alternative housing is not safe. This morning PNG police went into the detention centre in an attempt to remove the men.

A UN tribunal has found former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity. Mladic has been sentenced to life in prison over the slaughter⁴ of 8000 men and boys at Srebrenica and the siege of Sarajevo that killed more than 11,000 people. Mladic's legal team says it'll appeal the conviction and sentence.
