The prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has proposed a raft of laws to fight foreign espionage¹ and interference. The government wants to create a new offence making it illegal to covertly³ interfere² with Australian politics on behalf of another country. It also plans to create a register for foreign lobbyists, and to ban political donations from overseas.

A New South Wales man has been accused of trafficking a woman and child from Sydney to India. The 27-year-old man from Lidcombe in Sydney's west was charged by the Australian federal police for allegedly coercing⁴ his wife and two-month-old baby to leave the country.

The magistrate⁵ has concluded Mr Atkins was not a person of truth, but that she was unable to make an adverse⁶ finding against him.

The event was inspired by an Italian astronaut with a pizza craving⁷.
