A man who died after being found in a swimming pool in Sydney's north is believed to have been retired¹ judge Richard Gee², who survived the family court bombings in the 1980s. Emergency services were called to a home in Belrose around 10 o'clock last night after the 83-year-old man was found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool. He died at the scene.

An elderly inmate³ at Sydney's Long Bay Jail has allegedly murdered his cell mate. Police say the 77-year-old man allegedly bashed his 71-year-old cell mate to death just before 11pm last night. They were being held in the frail⁴ and aged⁵ unit of Long Bay prison in Sydney's south east.
