The federal government is taking more steps to keep gas prices down announcing it will restrict gas exports to counter domestic shortages. From January next year the government will be able to restrict exports if there's a shortage of gas in Australia. The prime minister says he anticipates it will have an immediate¹ impact on the wholesale² price of gas.
