President Obama wants Congress to approve bringing the last of the accused terrorists at Guantanamo to a prison in the U.S.:

“There are people in the Guantanamo Bay detention¹ facility whom it is not safe to transfer to any other, they have to stay in U.S. detention.”

Defense² Secretary Ash Carter, who was asked, if Congress approves closing the facility, would the U.S. give Gitmo back to Cuba?:

“I can rule that out.”

Carter says, that the Guantanamo naval³ base is another matter:

“The base is in a strategic location.

We've had it a long time. It's important to us.”

Carter says, “We intend to hold on to it.”

奥巴马总统希望国会批准将关塔那摩监狱最后一批被指控的恐怖分子带回美国的监狱。

国防部长卡特已经要求国会是否能够批准关闭这做设施,美国能够把关塔那摩监狱还给古巴吗?

“我可以排除掉这样的可能性。”

卡特表示关塔那摩海军基地也存在另一个问题:

“这座基地是战略要地。
