500-million Yahoo! accounts, that’s how many hackers¹ are believed to have swiped personal information from in the biggest digital break-in at an email provider.

It’s bad timing² for Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, she’s trying to close an almost $5 billion sale to Verizon. It’s also potentially bad for Yahoo! email users.
