Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore has been suspended for the rest of his term, effectively removing the state’s highest-elected judge from the bench.

阿拉巴马州首席法官罗伊·摩尔(Roy Moore)剩余任期被停职，该州最高级法官被撤职。

A state disciplinary court ordered the suspension because Moore encouraged lower court judges to deny marriage licenses¹ to same sex couples, six months after the Supreme² Court overturned gay marriage bans nationwide.

州纪律法庭下令其停职是因为摩尔鼓励较低级法院法官拒绝向同性情侣发放结婚证书。而早在六个月前，最高法院已在全国范围内推翻了同性婚姻禁令。

Moore argued his administrative³ order was not defiance⁴.

The same panel removed Moore from office in 2003 for refusing the remove the Ten Commandments monument from the state judicial⁵ building. Moore was later re-elected.
