President Obama left no doubt who was behind the email hacking1 of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, telling reporters he confronted Russian President Vladimir Putin about it in September.
(President Obama) “And tell him to cut it out and there would be serious consequences if he didn’t. And in fact we didn’t see further tampering2 of the election process.”
In a year-end news conference, the President stopped short of saying the leaked emails tipped the scales for President-elect Trump3, adding there is no evidence of tampering with ballots4 or voting machines.
