Researchers in British Columbia found people were much happier when they spent money to avoid chores, like mowing¹ the lawn² or house cleaning, when compared to those who shelled out money for wine, clothes or entertainment.

不列颠哥伦比亚省研究人员发现，人们花钱请人清理草坪或者保洁之类的要比那些花钱喝酒，买衣服或者其他吃喝玩乐感觉幸福得多。

Study author Elizabeth Dunn says researchers believe rushing around and feeling pressed for time can take a toll³ on one's day-to-day happiness, and buying "time" can help reduce that stress...

研究作者伊丽莎白·邓恩表示，研究人员相信，东奔西跑或者感觉时间紧迫会影响大家的日常幸福感，花钱买时间能够减轻这种压力……

Despite those findings⁴, only two percent of the participants said they would spend money on things which would give them more time. Dunn believes most feel guilty about spending on things they can do themselves.
